HCFCU’s new building wins Renaissance award

The Building Industry Association (BIA) of Hawaii has presented Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union (HCFCU) with a Renaissance award, recognizing HCFCU’s newly-opened branch and administrative offices as the winner in the New Commercial Division for projects more than 15,001 square feet in size.

The 21st annual BIA Renaissance Building & Remodeling Awards banquet honored businesses in Hawaii in the following divisions: Commercial and Residential — new and remodeled, Historic, Landscaping, Kitchen and Bath and Hawaii BuiltGreen.

Projects are judged on creativity, materials, visual appeal, sustainability and environmental concerns, functionality, principles of design, value, overall quality, interior space and workmanship.


Current Events brings home IABC awards

Current Events, a Kona-based strategic communications agency, garnered three statewide Ilima Awards at the recent International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Hawaii annual event in Honolulu. The IABC Awards recognize excellence in communication in Hawaii. Current Events was the only neighbor island public relations agency to win an award.

The company was awarded an Award of Excellence for a brochure designed for Tinguely Development, the Award of Merit for its “Coconut Certificates” designed for the Kona Village Resort and an honorable mention for an event poster for the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival.


Kanai, Sugai join credit union staff

Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union (HCFCU) recently announced the addition of two employees, Arnold Kanai and Kenneth Sugai.

Kanai was hired as HCFCU’s support services manager and is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Support Services Department, which includes the Shared Draft, ACH/EFT, ATM and Compliance departments. Prior to joining HCFCU, Kanai served as branch manager for Central Pacific Bank in Kailua-Kona.
